iPhone X can’t handle British winter

Expensive phone freezes

British Apple fanboys who emptied their bank accounts to buy Apple’s hugely overpriced gadget are finding that it cannot handle the cold British weather.

The issue surfaced on Reddit on Thursday in the r/iPhone Subreddit in a thread titled: “iPhone X screen not responsive in the cold”.

Apparently the device has been becoming unresponsive as they step out into the cold — it doesn’t register a user’s touch.

When Apple designed the phone it forgot that when there is a change of light from the indoors to the outdoors the light sensors need to be changed. It was fair enough really, no one in Apple thought that their fanboys would ever venture outside. That would require them breathing fresh air, wrapping up warm and parting with their lunch money after an encounter with the neighbourhood bullies.

However Apple is telling users that the device was designed to work in temperatures up to 0 degrees Celsius. "It is expected that the device may slow down and maybe unresponsive."

Hang on… 0 degrees is not that cold in a European winter. There are going to be a lot of pissed off fanboys if the phone is only designed to work in California.

Apple has confirmed the problem and stated that it is working on a fix. “We are aware of instances where the iPhone X screen will become temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid change to a cold environment. After several seconds the screen will become fully responsive again. This will be addressed in an upcoming software update”, the company said.

There are some other “features” which Apple fanboys are moaning about. One complained that his phone doesn’t work in one-handed usage – we guess that makes it useless for looking at porn.

“It still works but it definitely doesn’t register my finger sometimes, especially during one-handed use. Seemingly preferring the pads of my fingers vs the edges of my finger”, the user said.

Apple is expected to issue an update over-the-air update soon. Until then, according to some users, the only solution, if the problem persists, users can simply reset the phone to make it work. This might be an inconvenience, but currently, that is the only solution available.

Of course you could take it back and get your money back. With the money you could buy two phones which more or less do the same thing and you can take outside.
