Google sued for discriminating against white men

Because white men have such a tough time

Google has found itself in a rather amusing predicament. Normally it is accused of favouring white men over women and racial minorities in its hiring. Now it is going to court to defend itself against a white male who claims he has been discriminated against.

James Damore was fired by Google after he issued a manifesto in which he stated that women were biologically inferior engineers.

Now he is suing the company, alleging that Google systematically discriminates against white, male conservatives.

He and another fired engineer claim: “employees who expressed views deviating from the majority view at Google on political subjects raised in the workplace and relevant to Google’s employment policies and its business, such as ‘diversity’ hiring policies, ‘bias sensitivity,’ or ‘social justice,’ were singled out, mistreated, and systematically punished and terminated from Google, in violation of their legal rights.”

Attorneys for Damore and the other engineer, David Gudeman are seeking to represent the company’s conservative white men. The lawsuit contains dozens of pages of internal Google communications that, they claim,  demonstrates anti-conservative sentiment at the company.

Damore became an alt-right celebrity after his firing.

CEO Sundar Pichai said in an email to staff after Damore was fired: "That to suggest a group of our colleagues have traits that make them less biologically suited to that work is offensive and not OK.”

The other bloke in the suit was David Gudeman who was fired in 2016 after making comments about a Muslim colleague that implied he could be a terrorist because he had just visited Pakistan. .

All this is happening while Google is fighting back claims that women at the company have been systematically underpaid. Google seemed to suggest that this court case would be a welcome relief.

“We look forward to defending against Damore’s lawsuit in court,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement.
