If you have been wondering what is going on with the Snapdragon 835 successor, Qualcomm confirmed last week that it plans to livecast the Second Annual Snapdragon Technology Summit Keynote.

Qualcomm traditionally has an event in the last quarter of the year where it presents the next generation Snapdragon. It has been reported a lot that Qualcomm plans to present on the December 5 may well be called the Snapdragon 845.

The event will be hosted by Cristiano Amon, Executive Vice President, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc and President, Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT) who will be joined on the stage by global C-Level industry leaders.

Following the naming logic, after 835 comes the 845 but we will see when the company announces it. Fudzilla reported that the new Snapdragon will be manufactured on the second generation 10nm process as 7nm won’t happen before the latter part of next year. At least two things are confirmed - the demonstration of the Qualcomm Snapdragon Mobile Platforms for mobile devices, always connected PCs and future technologies. So that's mobile phones and  always connected Windows 10 on Snapdragon PC.

The new Snapdragon 8x5

Cristiano Amon, Executive Vice President, QTI, and President, QCT said:

“Snapdragon is the premium tier mobile platform of choice. We look forward to sharing for the first-time exciting announcements and advancements live with press and analysts in the room and customers and enthusiasts around the world via the live webcast. We will be joined on stage by several major industry leaders who we are collaborating with to enable many significant technological achievements that will change the way we use our smartphones and other mobile devices.”

Qualcomm’s flagship processor will find its way to the Galaxy S9 and later, the next generation Note, the next generation LG phone, the next generation One Plus phone, Xiaomi and the Pixel 3 to name a few.

We expect to see Galaxy S9 launched either in late Q1 2018 – March or early Q2 2018 in April and the rest of the vendors to follow.

Some obvious things are to be expected, improved CPU and GPU performance, better VR and XR, as well as a better camera and AI, as these are hot topics now.

Readers will be able to watch the livestream on www.qualcomm.com but we should be there to tell you about it too.
