When the card was released the company decided to break the rules and have little marketing, no official review coverage. Instead, it allowed a few benchmarks to be leaked and expected people to come running. The benchmarks did the card no favours as they showed the 16 GB card to be only marginally faster than the 8 GB.

According to benchmarks disclosed by NVIDIA, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB showed minor single-digit gains from its 8 GB variant. Despite double the VRAM, the card is only suitable for 1080p gaming and could perform adequately at 1440p only when using upscaling technologies like DLSS.  In short, it was a chocolate teapot when it came to gaming.

With this minimum amount of information, customers were expected to shell out $100 more (or opt for something from AMD).

The expected price drop makes it evident that the GPU is unable to gain traction in European markets which is surprising given its poor reception, zero marketing and general messing around with the market.

Nvidia might get away with things better in the US, but prices should fall below $500 soon.
