Ubisoft forced to backpedal on online pass

Printing error means online to be free after all
Well, Ubisoft is going to have to rethink things; because of a printing error that caused many of the codes included with the game not to work the company has elected to make the Online play free. The news is a welcomed bit of relief for the moment.
Those that buy Driver San Francisco can just select “Purchase Uplay Password” and it will be fulfilled and downloaded for free, or players can just select “Start my 2-day free trial” and it will never expire. Once completed, this will unlock the 11 multiplayer modes and the film director utility.
Ubisoft has not said how long the Uplay Passport will be free, but we suspect that it could be free forever at this point; it will be hard to put the genie back into the bottle, if you know what we mean. Ubisoft has also confirmed that 22 new routes will be coming, as well. The first 12 routes will be released on September 15th and will be free. Another route will be released a week at a time over the next ten weeks. Those additional 10 routes are expected to also be free.
