The outfit accused Microsoft of creating hurdles for those who are rivals in the security business.

In a statement, the company said that with Windows 10, Microsoft started to create obstacles to competing manufacturers of security software, and introduced different ways of pushing users to forgo third-party software in favour of its own Windows Defender,

Eugene Kaspersky said: "We see clearly - and are ready to prove - that Microsoft uses its dominant position in the computer operating system market to fiercely promote its own -- inferior -- security software (Windows Defender) at the expense of users' previously self-chosen security solution."

He added that such promotion is conducted using questionable methods, it  wants to bring these methods to the attention of the anti-competition authorities.

Of course Microsoft has previous form, having been acussed of doing something similar over forcing people to use its Internet Exploder browser. That was all patched up, but it cost Microsoft rather a lot of money.
