by on07 March 2023

Refreshed "entry-level" Macbook Pro also incoming

There have been quite a few rumors about the upcoming Macbook Air models, but 9to5Mac.com now managed to confirm that the new Macbook Air will be coming in 13-inch and 15-inch versions and both will be powered by the M3 chip.

The rumor was started by Bloomberg and its report on Sunday, suggesting that new Macbook Air models are incoming and that at least one of these models will feature the M3 chip.

9to5Mac.com managed to confirm a bit more details, citing unnamed sources, stating that there are indeed two new Macbook Air models, the 13-inch Macbook Air, codenamed J513, and a brand-new 15-inch version, codenamed J515, both of which will be powered by Apple's M13 chip.

While some rumors suggested that the new 15-inch Macbook Air will be powered by the M2 and M2 Pro chips (analyst Ming-Chi Kuo), 9to5Mac.com managed to confirm that both will get the same entry-level 8-core M3 chip. The same source suggests that Apple does not plan to offer the more powerful M3 Pro chip with these models.

Refreshed 13-inch Macbook Pro also coming

9to5Mac.com also managed to confirm that Apple also plans a refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro with the latest chip. Codenamed J504, this "entry-level" Macbook Pro will get the same 8-core M3 chip.

There is no precise date for these new Macbook Air and Macbook Pro models, but judging from previous announcements, we can expect them at WWDC in June, when Apple will also announce the new M3 chip.
