Wants to build something to rival Nvidia

The dark satanic rumour mill has manufactured a hell on earth yarn claiming that OpenAI has engaged in discussions with several chip designers, including Broadcom, to develop a new AI chip capable of challenging Nvidia’s dominance.

Broadcom, renowned for its extensive semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions, is a significant player in data centre networking, telecommunications, and consumer electronics.

It ranks as the 13th most valuable company worldwide, surpassing well-known tech entities such as Samsung, AMD, Intel, Arm, IBM, and Qualcomm.

The specifics of OpenAI’s discussions with Broadcom and other potential partners remain unclear.

However, The Information suggests that any resultant AI chip is unlikely to rival Nvidia’s offerings soon, given the substantial investment in research and development required.

OpenAI has reportedly recruited former Google engineers with expertise in developing Tensor processors, underscoring its commitment to establishing its hardware capabilities.
