Door slammed on entry-level chips

Just when we thought we were getting new RDNA 3 GPUs, the Radeon RX 7400 and RX 7300, it turns out those plans have been binned.

These entry-level GPUs, which were supposed to use Navi 33 chips, are now off the table according to Benchlife.

None of AMD's AIB partners are working on these GPUs anymore. Everyone's too busy with the next-gen RDNA 4 architecture. So, if you were hoping for the RX 7400 or RX 7300, tough luck.

The focus has shifted to the upcoming Radeon RX 8000 series, expected to drop by Q1 2025.

The forums are buzzing with chatter that AMD and its partners are all-in on RDNA 4. The dark satanic rumour mill claims that Navi 48 and Navi 44 GPUs will be the stars of the show, with the Navi 48 matching the performance of the Navi 31 but priced between $400-$500, and the Navi 44 coming in under $350.

AMD's last big release, the Radeon RX 7600 XT, flopped, and the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT didn't fare much better. With 2024 being a dry spell for Radeon GPU launches, all eyes are on AMD to see if they can turn things around with RDNA 4
