For those not in the know, the site was once touted as "a complete and up-to-date resource for anyone who needs to learn about Microsoft licensing," and currently offers over 50 training modules plus documentation.
Vole has decided to discontinue the site in its current form. Visitors to the site now see a pop-up message stating, "Microsoft will be ending support for licensing certifications through this platform and phasing out the Get Licensing Ready resource."
The site will retire on January 1st. Users are encouraged to complete any active modules and download their certificates by December 1st, as Microsoft warns it is "unable to provide copies of certification after December 31st, 2024." The site's email alias will also be discontinued on New Year's Day.
Site content will be relocated to microsoft.com/licensing. A spokesVole said: “The company remains committed to supporting licensing knowledge and solution-building for our partners and customers – partly with new AI capabilities to enhance learning and engagement further."
An example of AI to be used is the recently announced Partner Centre AI assistant, which "uses generative AI to deliver tailored insights and intelligent suggestions, providing quick answers to questions and optimising day-to-day workflows." While the page for the assistant doesn't specifically mention licensing, it helps with "navigating and managing Partner Centre workspaces, including Account settings, Action Center, Benefits, Billing, Customers, Earnings, Incentives, Insights, Membership, Marketplace offers, Referrals, Pricing, and Help + Support."
Though this is beneficial for partners, it might not suffice for the "anyone" currently served by the existing site. There's no word yet on what AI innovations Microsoft plans to introduce for its licensing services, but the software giant is already developing them.
