Lara Gustavsson from DICE said during a live chat that, “No, it’s currently not, but I would love to make it,” when asked whether Battlefield 2143 was in the pipeline of projects the studio is currently working on. When Gustavsson said that he would “love to make” the sequel to 2142, the rumors that it is in development are clearly wrong.

Rumors that DICE was preparing a sequel to the 2006 PC-only Battlefield 2142 have been circulating for quite a while. The consoles seem to be an ideal place for a futuristic Battlefield title to do well. While a number of hints and whispers have led many to believe that DICE was planning something, apparently this isn’t the case at this time. This is a true disappointment for fans of 2142 who have always wanted a sequel, but Gustavsson is careful not to close the book on the possibility.
