Nvidia’s shipments increased 2.3 percent sequentially, while Intel gained 3.5 percent. AMD’s shipments declined 4.2 percent quarter-on-quarter. Overall PC GPU shipments increased 6.8 percent sequentially, but they were still down 7.6 percent compared to Q3 2012.

The attach rate of GPUs to PCs was 137 percent and an estimated 73 percent of PCs with integrated graphics use them.

“The CAGR for total PC graphics from 2012 to 2016 is -2.7%; we expect the total shipments of graphics chips in 2016 to be 429 million units. In 2012, 479 million GPUs were shipped and the forecast for 2013 is 436 million,” said the report.

There weren’t that many highlights. AMD’s APU shipments went up 27.8 percent from Q2, but they declined 21.3 percent in notebooks. AMD’s overall PC graphics shipments decreased 4.5 percent.

Nvidia’s desktop discrete business gained 8.2 percent, but like AMD it lost ground in notebooks, with a 3.3 percent drop. Overall Nvidia’s graphics shipments increased 2.3 percent.
