G.Skill’s new Trident Z DDR4 3466MHz CL16 modules (16-16-16-36 at 1.35v) are on their way to retail shops as an expansive 128GB kit with eight 16GB modules. This kit is expected to achieve its rated speeds at just 1.35 volts and is targeted towards video and imaging professionals, graphic designers, system administrators, product engineers and any other individual who needs very high-performance, low-latency sticks for resource-intensive purposes.

During Computex, these modules were running on an MSI X99A Godlike Gaming Carbon motherboard featuring Intel’s new 10-core Core i7 6950X processor and a newly announced G.Skill RipJaws 1200W 80 Plus Platinum power supply.

The other kit currently on its way to retail shops are the Trident Z DDR4 4500MHz CL16 modules (16-16-16-36) as a smaller, normal use 16GB package with two 8GB modules. Although voltage specifications are still confidential, the company hopes its enthusiast customers will be able to score a few more CPU-Z validation points with these using the stock heatsinks or liquid nitrogen.

Earlier this month, G.Skill introduced five new color schemes for its Triden Z series on select specifications. The new design incorporates either a black brushed aluminum body paired with orange, yellow or white on the top bar, or a silver brushed body with white or black on the top bar. The company hopes modders and enthusiasts will pair these with modern X99 and Z170 motherboard designs featuring two-toned color schemes. The colors are expected to be available any day now, and both of these new kits should be available in the new design format.

Last Thursday, the company announced that it had achieved the world’s first memory record above the 5GHz barrier, achieved with Trident Z Series DDR4 3866MHz C18 modules (F4-3866C18-4GTZ) running on an MSI Z170I Gaming Pro AC motherboard. The company ran a Core i5 6600K Skylake CPU at a low 968.17MHz (121MHz x 8) and the memory at 2501.2MHz using a 1:31 ratio. The end result was DDR4 5002.4MHz memory speeds at 31-31-31-63-2 timings.
