Octa-core CPU with Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 cores and ray tracing-capable GPU

Mediatek has officially announced its flagship Dimensity 9300 SoC which should be coming to phones pretty soon, at least in China. This 4nm+ SoC brings an "all big CPU design", combining four Cortex-X4 and four Cortex-A720 cores and a 12-core Immortalis-G720 GPU with hardware ray tracing. Mediatek promises impressive performance gains across the board, including CPU, GPU, and AI with the new 7th gen APU.

As said, the Mediatek Dimensity 9300 SoC is based on an octa-core CPU design, featuring four Cortex-X4 cores, clocked at up to 3.25GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz. With such design and new CPU management, Mediatek is promising up to 15 and 40 percent increase in single-core and multi-core CPU performance, and up to 33 percent multi-core power saving, compared to the previous gen CPU, of course. It also has support for LPDDR5T-9600 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Mediatek also included a 12-core Immortalis-G720 GPU promising 46 percent improvement in peak performance and hardware ray tracing performance, as well as 40 percent increase in power savings. It also brings console-level global illumination effects.

AI also got a big boost, promising 7x faster transformer-based and 2x faster integer and floating point compute performance, up to 33 billion parameters, 45 percent better power efficiency, and support for on-device LoRA Fusion.

The rest of the specs include a better Imagiq 990 ISP, a new R16 5GB modem, and more. It also comes with a new Secure Processor and Arm MTE technology.

The Mediatek Dimensity 9300 is coming first to China, launching with vivo X100 series smartphone, so hopefully, we'll see more phones soon, and some benchmarks comparing it to currently available flagship SoCs.
