According to a rumour from Twitter user XpeaGPU, Mediatek is teaming up with Nvidia for a gaming handheld SoC which could use an Nvidia GPU. There were already a couple of rumours last year that Nvidia was working on such a chip, and a few days ago another leak suggested that Nvidia and Mediatek were teaming up for an SoC that could go for Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite. If the rumours are correct, such chips could be based on TSMC's 3nm and arrive in the first half of 2025.

These rumours are no surprise as Nvidia already told GTC 2024 that Mediatek, among other companies, will be using its next-gen RTX and AI GPU IP based on the Blackwell architecture for automotive SoCs, but there might be more than one deal between these two companies. Nvidia had its GPU fingers in the Nintendo Switch, its Shield and Shield TV, as well as the original Xbox and Playstation 3 consoles, so coming back to claim a piece of that market does not sound farfetched.

In any case, we'll there will be more information as we draw closer to the third quarter and these SoC designs could be finalised before the release early next year. The rumour suggests that Nvidia and Mediatek already attracted some interest from Chinese customers.

Yep and Mediatek is also working on gaming handled SoC with Nvidia GPU as Jensen is frustrated by Nintendo and he sees a good market potential.
