Japan earthquake will not stop Chipmakers

Intel and Qualcomm will be fine
Rivals said that it had a similar policy so it was able mitigate disruptions in its supply chain. In a statement it said that it did not foresee any significant impact in our ability to supply product to our customers due to the events in Japan.
Both are the market leaders. Intel microprocessors run more than 80 percent of the world’s personal computers and Qualcomm dominates the market for chips in mobile phones.
The statements were released after soothsayers at Barclays and UBS speculated that shutdowns at Mitsubishi Gas would deprive some chipmakers of a chemical resin used to package their products, causing supply disruptions.
