Hits 12.5GB/s read and 10GB/s write on AMD X670 platform

Phison's upcoming E26 PCIe Gen5 SSD controller has been spotted running on the AMD X670 platform and reaching impressive 12.5GB/s read and 10GB/s write speeds.

Phison revealed its PS2026-E26 PCIe 5.0 x4 controller earlier this week, promising 15.8GB/s transfer speeds, doubling the performance of the PCIe Gen4 interface. The controller is powered by ARM's Cortex R5 cores, included in Phison's own CoXProcessor 2.0 platform.

Showing what its engineering sample can do, Phison has released a short video showing the E26 controller in action and reaching 12,457 MB/s read and 10,023 MB/s write performance in CrystalDiskMark SEQ1M (Q16T1) benchmark. The drive was using Micron's 3D TLC NAND flash memory, and it was running on AMD's X670 chipset, or precisely, the Asus X670 Crosshair Hero motherboard.

Unfortunately, Phison did not reveal any details about the actual availability, but we expect PCIe Gen5 drives by the end of this year.
