AMD is getting ready to showcase the Vega 7nm GPU that will exclusively be used for Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Current plan: will never be

Many AMD fanboys hoped that Vega 7 nm would be a GPU that could make Vega more competitive to Nvidia's offering.

That is the Vega 7nm

Many of our colleagues were excited to see the confirmation of the existence of the chip called Vega 20. This is what AMD introduced back in January as the Vega 7nm, and it is a compute chip.  

Sample in 2018, shipping unknown

If there is one difference between journalists to financial investors about the Vega 7 nm there is a very different view. Now, Lisa Su, the CEO of AMD has confirmed that 7nm can be used for artificial intelligence and that it will sample in 2018.

Instinct, artificial intelligence first

Lisa Su has announced Vega 7nm as a machine learning "instinct part" first. AMD is quite clear that this is for machine learning first and don’t want to comment on our curiosity whether Vega 7nm can make it to the market as a gaming product soon.
