Zen 5 rumour mill turns

The dark satanic rumour mill has manufactured a hell-on-earth yarn claiming that AMD's Ryzen 9000X3D series, suggesting it will fully support overclocking.

This information comes as we near the launch of the Ryzen 9000 series, with details about Zen5 desktop CPUs becoming more intricate.

The prior X3D series, based on Zen3 and Zen4 architectures, lacked full overclocking capabilities. On the 7000X3D series, users could optimise performance through methods like Precision Boost Overdrive, but manual adjustments to clocks or multipliers were not possible.

The upcoming Ryzen 9000X3D series is expected to overcome these constraints by offering 'full overclocking' capabilities, allowing manual adjustments to CPU voltage and clock settings.

AMD has hinted at new features for the Zen 5-powered Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs, including comprehensive overclocking support, a departure from the previous reliance on Precision Boost Overdrive and CO tuning.

While full overclocking will be supported, AMD may implement safeguards to ensure overclocking remains within safe parameters, especially considering the increased sensitivity to voltage changes due to the 3D V-Cache.

A simplified chart from VideoCardz.com illustrates the evolution of overclocking support across the Ryzen X3D series. The latest Zen5 supports manual, automatic, and memory overclocking with safeguards.

The Zen5 series is reported to be more power-efficient and offer improved overclocking support for DDR5 memory kits.

Preliminary data suggests that the Ryzen 9000 series will target DDR5-6000 memory as the optimal speed, with an increased upper limit of 6400 MT/s, maintaining a 1:1 ratio between FCLK and MCLK.

The new CPUs are expected to support up to 8000 MT/s EXPO memory in a 1:2 ratio with 4-DIMM mode, indicating significant advancements in memory support.

Board partners are reportedly working towards supporting memory speeds of 9000 MT/s and even 10000 MT/s, achievable with a 1:2 ratio. This could mark a potential end to Ryzen's previous limitations in high memory spec support compared to Intel.

The combination of full overclocking support and enhanced memory capabilities could position the Ryzen X3D series as one of the most significant updates in recent times.
