The rumoured AMD Ryzen 5 9600X3D will feature six cores, unlike the eight expected on the 9800X3D, but will include the same 64MB stack of 3D V-cache to enhance gaming performance.

AMD’s 3D V-cache has been popular with gamers and is effective at spitting out frame rates. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is still the best gaming CPU but is getting long in the tooth.

According to tech leaker Hoang Anh Phu, who accurately predicted the launch of the Ryzen 5 7600X3D, the eight-core Ryzen 7 9800X3D will debut in early November, as we wrote earlier. Hoang Anh Phu also indicated that the Ryzen 5 was planned alongside the Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9.

Previously, AMD first released the 12-core Ryzen 9 7900X3D and 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X3D, followed by the eight-core Ryzen 7 7800X3D. AMD will launch the 9800X3D first with a Ryzen 5 chip, likely the 9600X3D, planned simultaneously this time. Given that most games do not require more than six cores, this cheaper X3D CPU could be a hit for budget-conscious gamers.

AMD is saying nothing, but a new six-core X3D gaming CPU with good worldwide availability would be better than the 7600X3D limited to specific countries and retailers.
