Samsung officially announces Galaxy Ring at MWC 2024

by on28 February 2024

Launching in the second half of the year

As expected, the big star of Samsung's Mobile World Congress 2024 show was the Galaxy Ring. Samsung also released a couple of details including the size and color options, battery life, and the launch date is now confirmed for the second half of the year.

Samsung first showcased, or rather teased the Galaxy Ring at its Galaxy S24 Unpacked event last month, and left the official announcement for the Mobile World Congress 2024 show currently going on in Barcelona. Samsung is still not ready to announce some of the details, including specifications and price, but it did say that it will come in standard ring sizes from 5 to 13, marked S to XL, and come in three colors, Ceramic Black, Platinum Silver, and Gold.

The Galaxy Ring will be able to track heart rate and sleep, and function as a companion for the Galaxy Watch, giving more detailed health and activity tracking. So far, it appears that the Galaxy Ring will be exclusively compatible with Galaxy smartphones, while support for other Android smartphones could come at a later date.

Some publications managed to squeeze out a bit more information from Samsung, so the South Korean publication FNNews managed to confirm that it will have between 5 and 9 days of battery life, depending on the usage and probably the size of the ring, while The Elec managed to pinpoint the launch date to the second half of the year, which lines up with previous rumors that Samsung could launch it at the Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July.
